Launched in June 1995, the original site at http://discovernz.co.nz was the first major portal to focus exclusively on New Zealand Travel & Leisure.
As a result of an increase in International visitor numbers around that time, a decision was soon made to provide the travel section (which included articles, maps, travel tools and more) with its own identity. This became the "New Zealand TravelPlanner - http://www.travelplanner.co.nz". The New Zealand TravelPlanner remains one of the most popular travel planning websites today.
After several incarnations, the DiscoverNZ.co.nz website was revamped in 2009 enabling people and organisations involved with Travel & Leisure to add and update their own listings. Unlike most New Zealand directories, which encompass the realm of business and industry, DiscoverNZ.co.nz set about becoming a valuable source of information for all things fun - Travel, Sport & Recreation, Entertainment, Food & Wine, Hobbies, Lifestyle and more ...
